Boomer Medical Division Launches Boomer HealthPlus™ Range
Boomer Combats MRSA with New HealthPlus™ Range
Boomer Industries has launched a new range of building materials designed to help combat MRSA. The new Boomer HealthPlus™ range is certified as resistant to MRSA and many common bacterial infections found in hospitals and care facilities.
This new PVC plastic range is Boomer’s latest weapon in the fight against healthcare acquired infections such as MRSA, it acts as a second line of defence using a silver ion compound to defeat dangerous bacteria.
The HealthPlus range is launched at a time when cost-effective hygiene solutions are sought by public and private sector healthcare organisations throughout the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Boomer is also planning export initiatives across Asia and the Gulf states as part of a drive to enhance value in the construction sector and to help minimise healthcare liability issues associated with MRSA.
The Lisburn-based plastics manufacturer is offering hospitals and care facilities ‘built in’ protection against potential microbial risk, using silver ion-based anti-bacterial technology in hospital fittings and fixtures.
Andrew Robinson, Managing Director of Boomer Industries said: “Healthcare is top of local people’s demands from the public sector. Boomer is making available to Northern Ireland a new product to help healthcare providers reduce MRSA risks and raise their quality of care. We are very proud to contribute to the wider health of our community with this great innovation.”
“Based on silver ion technology, the Boomer HealthPlus range is tested to ISO 22196:2007; it is EPA registered and compliant with the European Biocidal Products Directive (BPD). This PVC extrusion offers a unique selling point and added value for healthcare architects and fitters.”
“The constant protection built-in to the Boomer HealthPlus range may also help healthcare providers reduce their public liability through the provision of a high-performance anti-microbial environment.”
The PVC silver additive, which forms the core of HealthPlus, is compounded into the PVC during manufacture, so plastic performance quality is not affected by scratches, stress or cleaning chemicals.
Boomer HealthPlus has been developed to prevent microbial contamination by attacking the microbes at source, while inhibiting bacterial growth which can otherwise reduce the plastic component’s life span. The antimicrobial activity is inherent throughout the PVC, and not solely applied to the surface, ensuring consistence of protection.
To ensure a seamless service Boomer Industries is offering architects and contractors advise and support on processing issues, testing and product development for bespoke services. This will enable architects and planners to trial new formats specific to their unique projects.
Use of this innovative material is primarily focused on healthcare and clinical environments for medical devices, packaging, tubing and footwear, as well as construction fitting.
Boomer HealthPlus has a wide application potential, including cable management systems; furniture trimming; and in the construction sector, for flooring, stair nosing, wall protection. New consumer goods are likely to adopt the HealthPlus approach.
