EU Steel Team Embarks On Latin Trade Mission
Pedro Carvalho, Business Division Manager at Europontex, leads a high-level EU Steel trade mission throughout Latin American. It is EU Steel’s second trade mission of 2010 in the region.
The team includes David Costa, a specialist in steel products for the building industry and Business Unit Manager at the EU-Steel Group. They will visit current customers, and also focus on the creation of new client accounts.
Carvalho said: “EU Steel, like many European companies, has becoming increasingly competitive as delivery times have reduced and currently differentials have improved. Latin America, and especially Brazil, now has much to gain from working closely with our European-based manufacturing centre.”
“In Brazil and throughout the Americas, we have regular customers importing a vast range of steel products from across the EU Steel Group. We began by offering flat products, such as cold rolled coils, pre-painted coils, hot rolled as well, and hot dipped galvanized, but today we are effectively a one-stop centre for steel components.”
He added: “A key part of EU Steel’s trade mission in this quarter is to consolidate relationships with the existing customers. However, we have expanded our offer so significantly in recent years that we aim to become a player of imported steel products in Brazil specifically.”
