Zoom Announces Summer '08 Schedule

Zoom Airlines has reconfirmed its commitment to the Northern Ireland travel market, announcing details of its low-cost flights from Belfast to Canada as part of its Summer 2008 schedule.

The Belfast service will continue to offer direct, scheduled flights to Canada, with twice weekly service to Toronto and weekly flights to Vancouver, the only non-stop flight from the island of Ireland to Vancouver. The direct Toronto service will depart on Fridays and Mondays with fares starting from as low as £369 return including all taxes. The direct Vancouver service departs on a Thursday with fares starting from just £429 return including all taxes.

Zoom is the only airline offering flights to Canada all-year-round from Belfast International Airport to both Toronto and Vancouver, providing high quality low-cost flights to two of Canada’s most exciting and diverse cities, and is the only carrier to fly direct to Vancouver.

The Belfast service has experienced a 25 per cent increase in capacity since last year, which is testament to the level of demand from the Belfast travelling public taking advantage of Zoom’s transatlantic flights.

Lori Burke, marketing manager of Zoom Airlines, said: “We are delighted to be offering Belfast’s only low-cost direct scheduled flights to Toronto and Vancouver all year round and are fully committed to the Belfast service. There has been an unprecedented level of localised demand in Ireland for our flights and the increase year-on-year in passenger numbers since we first started operating from Belfast in summer 2005, has been exceptional.

“Toronto and Vancouver are cities that have long appealed to travellers as they offer a host of activities for all the family, as well as a diverse range of restaurants and accommodation. What’s more, given the exceptional exchange rate and our low-cost fares, a trip to these world class cities is far more affordable than you might think.”

Zoom’s new winter flights to Vancouver have proved extremely popular throughout the first season, offering an affordable snowsports holiday to one of the most renowned ski resorts in the world.

John Doran, managing director, Belfast International Airport, said, “Since Zoom entered the local market they have brought local travellers low fares and flexible booking options. Canada continues to be a growing destination, not only for the friends and family market, but also providing access for Canadians to visit Northern Ireland and beyond.”

Zoom operates an ‘easyJet-style’ booking service with flexible one-way fares and the flights offer Economy and Premium Economy services with allocated seating, meals and soft drinks included in the fare in all cabins, and an enhanced service available in the Premium Economy cabin, with upgrades available from as little as £79 one-way.
