New US-NI Business Links Forged
PRESIDENTS’ CLUB TO FORGE NEW BUSINESS LINKS BETWEEN THE US AND NORTHERN IRELAND
The comptroller of the State of New York Thomas DiNapoli rounded off his visit to Northern Ireland with Junior Minister Jeffery Donaldson by officially opening a state-of-the-art business facility aimed at providing ‘access, network and support’ to local businesses and potential US investors.
The Presidents’ Club located in Talbot Street in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter is a private sector initiative aimed at providing a resource for Chief Executives from companies in the US, Europe and Ireland to establish new networks and opportunities between markets.
The new facility will provide practical assistance, facilities and resources to nurture relationships and promote productive collaboration especially between businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Thomas DiNapoli, 54th Comptroller of the State of New York who is responsible for managing and protecting the State pension fund valued at $154.5 billion, officiated at the opening ceremony of The Presidents’ Club with Junior Minister Jeffrey Donaldson.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Comptroller of the State of New York Thomas DiNapoli said:
“The Presidents’ Club provides a vocal point for networking links between Northern Ireland and the USA which will help to harvest new business connections and strengthen relationships. This is essential to the future growth and success of the Northern Ireland economy. It also provides a very good example of how the private sector is working hard to create an environment to conduct business between America and Ireland. I know that there is great value in developing new collaborative networks which will assist in developing and strengthening business relationships across the Atlantic. The potential for local companies to develop new contacts in the US is also an impressive element of the work of The Presidents’ Club.”
The new facility will promote business activity and investment in Northern Ireland with the aim of creating high value jobs. Services offered to members include everything from five star boardroom facilities and a penthouse executive lounge to advanced ICT facilities geared for companies. A full-time business services director has been appointed to assist any American members of The Presidents’ Club prior to visiting Northern Ireland with an on-the-ground support team to and also to support their day-today needs.
“We are catering for a range of companies from the wireless, technology and creative industries to the financial or professional services firms,” said Mark Finlay, Chief Executive of Barnabas Venture and the project's principal investor. “Providing a range of business support services and a first class environment will enable members of the Presidents’ Club to access market opportunities between the US and the island of Ireland. This will forge new links and develop new collaborative networks which will contribute to economic and social regeneration efforts.”
The Presidents’ Club shares the same building as The Midtown Center a high quality business services centre which spans Hill Street and Talbot Street in Belfast City Centre.
