Constructions Skills Cards Reach 100K
100,000th CSR Card Issued At Special Stormont Event
The issuing of the 100,000th Construction Skills Register (CSR) took place today at Stormont at a special event organised by the Department for Employment and Learning and the Construction Employers Federation.
Sir Reg Empey MLA Minister for the Department for Employment and Learning presented 26 year old Christopher Scott, a Joiner with Martin and Hamilton of Ballymena with the 100,000th Card.
The event marked the significant progress that has been made by the Construction Skills Register in raising health and safety standards and providing recognition of skills and qualifications for workers of all levels within the construction industry in Northern Ireland.
John Armstrong, Managing Director of the Construction Employers Federation commented: “The Construction Skills Register has grown significantly since its inception and we are delighted to mark the issuing of the 100,000th card today. A CSR card is increasingly required by contractors, clients and the Government.
He continued: “The CSR card is about much more than health and safety, the skills development of cardholders is particularly important as the Northern Ireland Executive moves forward on a wide range of major capital projects. CSR clearly demonstrates that the industry has a very skilled workforce locally which is ready to deliver this work to the highest standard.”
