Construction Centre launches podcast at Charter signing

A new podcasting series dedicated to the UK construction industry has been launched by the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence (WMCCE) this week.

Each podcast features industry leaders and government officials as well as small contractors discussing current news, issues and opportunities from the impact of the credit crunch to identifying exactly what is “best practice”.

The first line-up of podcasts in this series kicked off with a discussion on the new Charter signed by 7 metropolitan borough councils (Birmingham, Sandwell, Dudley, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall) on the 10th October. Guests included the Heads of Property Services of the 7 councils and contractors Midlands that between them represent 50% of the region’s construction expenditure.

Victor Tsemo, WMCCE Marketing Manager, says: “We are a knowledge hub and try to communicate with as many stakeholders as possible. The podcasts will be of value to people at all levels in the industry, by allowing them to hear the views of their peers on topics relevant to their working lives.”

Podcasts are recorded monthly at WMCCE’s Birmingham office, or live at industry important events, and anyone in the construction industry is welcome to call in to take part and voice their opinions.

WMCCE Executive Director Michael Thompson says: “The aim of our podcasts is to communicate with the construction industry and in today’s challenging times we feel that there is no more effective way of doing this.”

“We want to keep everyone ‘in the loop’ on the latest industry hot topics and our open door policy is intended to provide the opportunity for our guests to express their opinions.”

The podcasts can be downloaded or listened online on the WMCCE website at http://www.wmcce.org/page.php?page=podcast.

For more information about participating in the podcasts, or providing hot topics, please contact Victor at marketing@wmcce.org or ring 0121 688 4050.

WMCCE is part-funded by the University of Wolverhampton, Advantage West Midlands and the European Regional Development Fund. It offers subsidised, or in some cases, free of charges business improvement services to eligible companies.
