Jetbird prepares for take-off with StrategicFusion

New business jet operator 'creates time' and cuts costs for European travellers

Jetbird (www.flyjetbird.com) has completed the first step in its bid to transform the business jet market with a brand and positioning campaign undertaken by StrategicFusion (www.strategic-fusion.com).  The strategic brand, marketing and communications advisor has worked closely with the new business jet operator to prepare it for its launch in September 2009.

Jetbird is a pan-European, on-demand private jet service that will facilitate fast, affordable and convenient travel.  It will bring the benefits of business jet travel to customers whose time is valuable but for whom the costs of such journeys has previously been prohibitive.  The first European private jet airline to offer an online booking system, Jetbird will also offer an answer to business travellers wanting an alternative to the current high-cost options.

StrategicFusion was selected to define the brand, language and visual identity for Jetbird, which it undertook through its Envisage, Enhance, Engage programme.  A key element of the project was extensive research covering information from parties including: Jetbird's senior management team; commercial airlines; business jet travellers, owners, users and charter companies; corporate travel bookers; and regional airport operators.  StrategicFusion also carried out comprehensive competitive analysis.

The resulting knowledge pool informed StrategicFusion's creation of the Jetbird brand in terms of its vision, values, mission and culture.  From there the brand identity was developed, with StrategicFusion handling each element of design, from the external livery of the planes to the 'Jetbird' font.  The strapline 'creating time' was also defined, in recognition that time is the ultimate commodity for the business traveller.

Stefan Vilner, CEO at Jetbird, commented: “StrategicFusion combined in-depth industry expertise with true creativity to produce a visual identity that is entirely in keeping with the company's ethos.  But its defining quality was its ability to get to the heart of Jetbird's rationale and strategy, with the result that the complete brand identity is built on solid business foundations.”

Stephen Rogers, managing director at StrategicFusion, explained: “Jetbird identified a gap in the business jet market, and developed a robust business model with which to tackle it.  StrategicFusion's input needed to reflect both the dynamic and innovative nature of the company, as well as its commercial credentials and market differential.”

Jetbird has seized the opportunity in the business jet market made possible by the production of Very Light Jets (VLJs), a new class of business aircraft that are more cost-effective to build and operate than traditional models.  It has selected new generation Embraer Phenom 100 aircraft for its operations.
