Equinox, Belfast’s leading boutique design store, has launched a series of high profile events to celebrate its 25 year anniversary.
“Throughout this year, Equinox is bringing to Belfast, leading designers and luxury brand ambassadors, experts capable of nurturing an enduring affection for design,” said Kay Gilbert, founder and managing partner.”
“Our approach to retailing is as much educational as it is inspirational. We plan to engage closely with local trade associations and tourism agencies, enhancing the consumer and leisure experience of the many visitors to our expanding city.”
“The aim of these design events is a demonstration of excellence in Belfast; a presentation of artistry and optimism in a city which continues to grow in confidence; and these events are a celebration of the achievements of 25 years of real teamwork,” said Gilbert.
“Design demands for modern living have matured enormously since Equinox was established in 1985. Brand knowledge of high-end, design-focused products has evolved from general consumer awareness in the ’80s, becoming an intrinsic part of the lives of many local families in this new generation.”
“Our aim has always been to reach the levels of expertise and quality found in London’s best contemporary independent stores. The Equinox collection has morphed from its original headline range to include an eclectic gallery of niche artists and highlights from Europe’s design houses.”
“Fortunately we have sustained growth through two recessions,” remarked Gilbert. She added: “adaptability in the luxury market is crucial in financially pressured times; and as an independent, family-owned store, Equinox benefited from a flexibility which eludes chain stores.”
“It is an indication of market sensitivity that during the last two years, many luxury retail chains have been forced to merge, or leave the sector. The challenge for Equinox has been ensuring its unique range and uncompromised personal service, but over 25 years we have learnt that much of our client offering is about a personal experience; and that is really the thinking behind this series of events.”
