Slim beauty with sophisticated multimedia consumption features released by Toshiba in Barcelona
Toshiba Computer Systems, a division of Toshiba Europe GmbH, today announced the new Satellite A660 – the latest member of its laptop portfolio, especially designed for multimedia consumption. The 16'' (40.6cm) laptop is targeted at users looking for a powerful laptop with built-in multimedia and entertainment features, all wrapped in a slim and stylish package. The Satellite A660 will be available during the second quarter of 2010 throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa.
For many people, the ability to run multimedia applications is very much part of their everyday computing requirements. The Satellite A660 has everything on board to meet this need, offering a high-class video experience enhanced by premium Dolby® Advanced Audio sound technology. Harman Kardon stereo speakers provide a vibrant and true sound. The new Sleep-And-Music feature allows music to be played back even when the laptop is in sleep or power off mode, if connected to a MP3 player.
Depending on the configuration the Satellite A660 comes with a rewritable Blu-ray Disc drive, which can not only playback HD content but can also be used to store data up to 50GB on a dual layer disc. It is also equipped with Resolution+, an application that upscales and color enhances standard definition content to near high definition quality in real-time, thereby bringing the experience of video consumption to the next level while still remaining affordable.
Content streaming
The Toshiba Media Controller helps users to share and stream photos, videos or music between connected DLNAâ capable devices in a very easy and intuitive way.
Another piece of software, the Toshiba Media Controller Plug-In for Internet Explorer, will also be pre-installed on the Satellite A660. The browser plug-in allows users to comfortably stream Flash videos stored on the Youtube video platform directly to a connected DLNA® capable TV set’s large screen.
The Satellite A660 is Toshiba’s first laptop series in the EMEA region featuring models equipped with the recently announced Intel® Wireless Display technology that allows users to wirelessly stream videos and music clips from the laptop to a wireless display-enabled TV set. The wireless display can be used simultaneously with a Wifi connection.
